Dostinex is a long acting drug which is used for the management of the disorders which occurs due to excessive secretion of the prolactin hormone (hyperprolactinemia). The high level of this hormone can result in enlarged breasts, low libido, erectile dysfunction, Problems with menstruation, excessive Production of breast milk, etc. Thus to manage these symptoms Dostinex can be used.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE DRUG-
Generic Cabergoline is a synthetic derivative of ergot medication, which is a dopamine agonist. This drug activates the dopamine receptor situated in pituitary gland and prevents the production of the hormone prolactin.
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS ABOUT THE DRUG-
Dostinex is used for the treatment of hyperprolactinemia conditions, galactorrhea and missed periods.
RIGHT WAY TO TAKE THE MEDICATION-
Suggested preliminary dose of Dostinex tablets is 0.25 mg. It is taken 2 times a week. Increase dose by 0.25 mg twice weekly up to 1 mg twice a week. Continue the medication for at least 6 months. Take this medicine by mouth with or without food.
WHAT TO DO IN CASE USER FORGETS TO TAKE THE DRUG ON TIME (MISSED DOSE)?
If you forget to take a dose, you may take it as soon as you remember. You can skip the missed dose if it is near the time of the next dose and resume your normal dosing timetable. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed dose.

Over dosage of Dostinex can produce syncope (brief loss of consciousness produced by a fall in blood pressure), running nose, or hallucinations. Call your doctor right away and take necessary measures to support blood pressure if required.
