How Aleve works?
Generic naproxen is a therapeutic component of Aleve. Naproxen belongs to the class of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). The drug causes the temporary blockage of the prostaglandin chemical which is released during the injury or inflammation or which cause sensitization of peripheral nerves. Nerve cell generates the pain signals that pass to the brain via spinal cord. Thus Aleve acts to inhibits the production of the prostaglandins and reduce pain and fever.
The recommended dose of Aleve 250 mg for children above the age of 12 years and adult is one tablet within 8 to 12 hours. In a day only two pills can be taken maximum.
What side effects can be observed with the use of Aleve?
Side effects are the undesirable symptoms that arise due to the medical treatment. It is also known as adverse effects. You can have- rashes, unusual ringing sound in ears, annoyance, giddiness, loose motion, indigestion, might be abdominal pain and shortness of breath. Aleve can cause gastric bleeding and ulcers.

In case of missed dose, you should take the medication as soon as possible. You should not try the missed dose if it is time for the next dose. Never double the dose to patch up.

In case of extra dose or overdose, the symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, shallow breathing, stomach pain, nausea, and seizures. In such a medical condition call your doctor immediately and if possible admit the patient in the hospital for proper care.
